Following up, in a way, on our post last week about fabricating a Zine Machine, we’re looking at the other end of the high-tech spectrum. This project at MIT, is able to fabricate fully functional drones using a widely available laser cutter, and an advanced assembly device developed by the research team, the LaserFactory.
One kind of resource often found around Fab City initiatives, is of course the Fab Lab, which allows local fabrication and experimentation, as well as introducing more people and communities to the possibilities of such an inventory of tools in a neighbourhood. The Zine Machine is a great example of a fun project and also of the distributed nature and opportunities of this kind of workshop.

Raquel Peñalosa, President of Communautique and Fab City Montréal Ambassador, along with Tomàs Diez of the Fab City Collective, was invited to present the Fab City Montréal codesign process at the Fab City Sorocaba Summit in Brazil, inviting to participate in Montréal events and ensuring a network of Fab Cities of the Americas (September 24-28, 2019).
