It’s sometimes ironic to look at 3D printing amongst solutions for more sustainable living, since most of the examples we see are printed in… plastic. Today, not for the first time on this blog, we visit Amsterdam. This time for the innovative work of Thijs Turèl, who both heads up the Responsible Sensing Lab and manages the Responsible Urban Digitization program at the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions.

Despite “fab” being part of Fab City and Fab Lab, the presence of Fab Labs and maker spaces is now just one aspect of a much broader range of ideas and solutions in the Fab City initiative, which wants to act as a global infrastructure and source of knowledge for transforming the way we work, live, interact and evolve in cities.
