Masterclass : Opening to the world of textiles and fashion

Join an inspiring conversation about the world of textiles and fashion, a masterclass from the project « Careers of Tomorrow inspired by the Fab Lab »

This conversation is an invitation to discover the masterclass “Opening up the world of textiles and fashion” by Noémie Carrier, textile design mediator and instructor at échofab, the Communautique Fab Lab.

Fashion and textile design is a very broad field. The garment itself is extremely complex, and creates different types of jobs. When we associate the textile world with other disciplines, one approaches the creative process from a new angle. Artists, designers, professors, biologists, electricians, programmers and engineers enrich the traditional methods of garment making with their innovative approach. Also, many machines and software available in fab labs encourage creativity and self-expression through clothing.

After viewing the masterclass, the managers of the project, Marie-Chantale Dion and Aurélie Nguyen, will lead a conversation to enrich the impact of this initiative.

The project « Careers of Tomorrow inspired by the Fab Lab » is the fruit of a collaboration between the First Nations and Inuit Labour Market Advisory Committee and Communautique, with the support of the First Nations Education Council Educational Services and the Tshakapesh Institute. The project is supported by the ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie through the NovaScience program.
